“ I recently tried ragonese for the first time in a long time and I loved it. Can't recommend the pasta salad enough. Big chunks of feta, black olives and roasted reds. I didn't see an onion in sight which is a big plus for me personally. Everyone is SO friendly and it's awesome there is parking so it's easy to get in and out. I recommend getting your sandwich on a little soft roll. It looks small but they pile the meat up high! ”
“ I've been going to Ragonese's since they opened, I was just a kid. My mother was a school teacher at School #19 so, that's how we knew about it. She'd bring home sandwiches/subs some nights. This is a small family owned business where most of the family remembers your name or at least your face. The food is good and the subs/sandwiches are some of the best in the capital region. They've got a lot of great imports and some of the best canned tomatoes you can get. This is a great market operated by a wonderful family and staff. One of my favorites. ”
“ Food service and cleanliness were great. Classic family deli. Everything is homemade and done very well. My only complaint is that this place isn't twice the size!!! ”
“ Pastrami sandwiches were delicious. It was our first time there and the staff could not have been more friendly. ”
“ Someone raved about this place when I was trying to decide what to get for lunch recently, and I was not disappointed. The menu on the deli's website is pretty straightforward, and by the looks of it must of the hot and cold stuff are available as either sandwiches or subs, with a few extra $ for subs. The crab meat salad sub with mayo, lettuce, onion, and tomato was overall impressive, and the chunky, creamy crab meat salad and whole leaf lettuce were my fave things about it. I'm still unsure about the sub roll though, because especially the top was curiously hard, and my guess is that it's not because it was stale but may have been baked longer than most breads? One advantage was that it kept the whole thing from getting soggy, but it would've been absolutely perfect with a softer sub roll. Someone else picked up the order for me so I can't comment on service, but I hear that it's a family owned business and I'm always glad to support a local business. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to return, ”
“ For the past few weeks, I've had lunchtime cravings for traditional Italian mix sandwiches/ subs. My solution has been to call ahead to place takeout orders with Ragonese Italian Imports. They don't disappoint. The sandwich is filled with generous amounts of ham, capicola ( an Italian spiced ham), salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, onions, oil and vinegar. The portions are large enough that I share my sandwich with my husband. The business owners are friendly and they greet you at the counter. There's always some customers standing nearby waiting to pick up their orders. The line moves quickly and I've found the customers to be remarkably nice. I think it's because we all have shared anticipation about the awesome lunches we're about to eat. On most occasions, I don't get much further than inside the doorway because of the crowd but the other day I got a chance to look at all of the wonderful display cases. I wish I had a bigger stomach because there were so many tasty looking foods and desserts that I want to try. One time, when I was really hungry after the gym, I ordered a Hungry People sub to feed 2-3 people. That sandwich was on my bucket list, but it took me 3 days to finish it. I'm not sure I could handle another one of those but I will definitely be back for more regular size sandwiches. ”
“ This is your go to - place for traditional Italian Easter Pies I live about three hours away, but my son goes to law school just around the corner from thjs amazing family owned store filled with Italian delicacies, I called on the Monday before Easter and placed my order for a savory (meat and cheese) Easter pie as well as the sweet dessert Easter pie with ricotta and orange zest. My son picked them up on Good Friday and brought them home with him to Horseheads New York. Both pies were fantastic just like my grandmother used to make. The total price of 39.95 for the two of them was a pleasant surprise as well . Just one of these pies alone would have cost that much from one of the New York City bakeries and then another $25 -$30 to have it shipped to my home. I will be ordering these Easter pies again next year for sure. ”
“ What a vibe o: I've never noticed this store even after driving by it for years now, but I decided to stop by for lunch one day--it was packed! There's a nice assortment of cheeses and meats, but I also got some of the frozen ravioli. They have short rib ravioli, lobster ravioli, spinach ravioli, the list goes on LOL. They also had some chocolate panettone for the Christmas season, which I really wanted to try out but alas, your girl is on a diet :P I went to the counter and was overwhelmed by the sandwich choices so I asked one of the workers to make me a prosciutto sandwich the way he would like it. I think there was mozarella and balsamic in a crispy bun? Regardless it was very tasty. They also had some tiramisu that I should have admittedly let thaw a bit more before I ate it, but I could tell that it was a decent-tasting tiramisu. I also had plenty of time to browse the dry goods, because everyone was coming in for lunch! Seems like they do catering for their sandwiches as well, I'll have to come back and try some more stuff from here :) ”
“ Nothing too exciting outside because all the excitement is behind that front door! You'll be welcome as soon as you step through the door. Rangonese is packed full, wall to wall with both local and imported Italian delights. Step up to the counter and they'll take your order. Not only does the deli make sandwiches to order, they have a variety of premade pasta dishes, salads, sausages, and pickles. Not ordering a sandwich? No problem, they make salads and slice deli meats and cheeses and offer fresh bread of you want to stock up and make it at home. Their shelves are lined with sauces, olive oil, and pasta in so many shapes. The freezers are packed with tortellini, ravioli, and other items. Whether you need to prep for a special meal or you are just stopping in for lunch on the go, Rangonese has got you covered. I ordered the Vegan Specialty sub which was stacked with roasted red peppers, grilled eggplant, olives and artichoke hearts, fresh shredded lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and oil and vinegar all on a fresh baked sub roll. For nearly 40 years Ragonese has been bringing great flavors, and hard to find Italian items to the Capital Region. ”
“ A neighborhood favorite! This Italian grocery store serves high-quality sandwiches, has terrific catering options and lots of Italian goodies. Their sandwich trays are amazing if you are looking for something tasty for an office lunch! They have lasagna and other cold dinner options for takeout as well as a great selection of meat and cheeses. Be sure to ask for their homemade lasagna sheets next time you make lasagna - beats the box version hands-down! ”
